Instant Message Alerts
Overview
Verbstack checks each shop for new buyer messages every 10 minutes. With Instant Message Alerts, you forward Reverb's new-message emails to a private Verbstack address, and Verbstack checks that shop the moment one arrives.
Requires Pro or Max
Instant Message Alerts are on Pro and Max, with the Inbox. Your 14-day trial includes them. Only an admin can turn them on, reset the address or turn them off.
Turn it on
- Go to Settings > Connections > Shop Connection.
- On your shop's row, select Set Up Instant Alerts.
- Select Turn On.
- Select Copy to copy your shop's alert address.
Each shop has its own address. Then set up forwarding in Gmail or Outlook.
Forward from Gmail
- Open Gmail Settings > See all settings > Filters and Blocked Addresses.
- Select Create a new filter. In "From," enter
info@reverb.com. In "Subject," enter"Message about". - Select Create filter, then check Forward it to and choose add new address. Paste your alert address.
- Gmail sends a one-time code to confirm the address. The code appears in the Instant Message Alerts pane in Verbstack. Enter it in Gmail to finish.
The code shows for 30 minutes. If it expires, ask Gmail to resend it.
Forward from Outlook
- Open Settings > Mail > Rules.
- Select Add new rule. Under "Add a condition," choose From and enter
info@reverb.com. - Select Add another condition. Choose Subject includes and enter
Message about. - Under "Add an action," choose Forward to and paste your alert address.
- Select Save. Outlook sends no confirmation code, so the rule works as soon as you save it.
Check that it works
Once alerts are on, the shop's row reads Instant Alerts. Open it to see the Status and Last Alert Received.
- On: forwarded mail from Reverb is reaching Verbstack.
- Stale: buyer messages arrived since the last alert, and none has come in for at least three days. Check that your forwarding rule is still on.
Either way, the 10-minute check keeps covering your shop, so Verbstack still finds new messages within 10 minutes.
Reset the address or turn it off
- Reset Address gives the shop a new address. The old one stops working right away, so update your Gmail or Outlook rule with the new one.
- Turn Off stops alerts for the shop. Turning them on again gives a new address.
Disconnecting a shop turns its alerts off.
Privacy
Verbstack never stores the forwarded email. An alert only tells Verbstack to check the shop, and the message itself comes from Reverb. Verbstack keeps a 30-day record that an alert arrived, with no sender, subject or message content.
