Notifications

Settings → Notifications decides what leaves Verbstack and reaches you by email, Slack or browser notification, and when.

On Pro and Max, everything that needs you still appears in the Inbox. Notifications are the copy that finds you elsewhere. Nothing can be approved from an email, Slack message or browser notification, and each one links back into Verbstack.

Who it's for

Everyone. Each person chooses what reaches them. Admins set the team's starting point.

Before you start

Settings → Notifications is on every plan. Your plan decides which notification rows exist. Set your account's time zone in Settings → Account, because quiet hours and digests follow it. Each person can set My Time Zone under Quiet Hours instead.

Choose what reaches you

  1. In My Notifications → What Reaches Me, tick On for a row.
  2. Tick Email, Push or both.
  3. Pick When: As It Happens, Daily Digest or Weekly Digest.
  4. Press Save N changes.

Each row is labelled Your Choice, Account Default or Standard. Press Reset to Default to go back to the account's choice. Send Me a Test Email checks your address, up to five times every ten minutes.

Turn on browser notifications

Under Browser Notifications, press Turn On for This Browser, allow it when your browser asks, and tick Push on the rows you want. A notification shows a title and a link, never shop details.

This is per browser, not per account. Turn it on in each one. If you blocked notifications earlier, clear that in your browser's site settings first. Verbstack can't ask again until you do. Push works only with As It Happens. Pick a digest and the tick is dropped.

Set your quiet hours

Under Quiet Hours, pick Use the Account's Quiet Hours or Set My Own. For your own, tick Quiet Hours On and set From and Until. Set My Time Zone, then press Save Quiet Hours.

Email waits until the window ends. Browser notifications are dropped, not delayed. Critical notifications still go out: a stopped sync reaches you whatever the hour. Its row is badged "Sent during quiet hours". The account's quiet hours are off by default. An admin's default window is 21:00 to 08:00.

Connect Slack

  1. Add the Incoming Webhooks app to a Slack channel and copy its URL.
  2. In Account Defaults → Slack, paste it and press Connect Slack.

Verbstack posts a test message first. If Slack refuses it, nothing is stored. The URL is stored encrypted, and only its last few characters are ever shown again.

There is one webhook for the whole account. It is admin only and always follows the account's quiet hours. Tick Post to Slack on a row to route it there. Disconnect stops posting but keeps your routing choices for next time.

Set the team's defaults

In Account Defaults (admin only), set On, the channels and the timing for each row, then press Save Changes.

A default is the starting point for anyone who hasn't chosen for themselves. It never overwrites a person's own choice, which stays "Your Choice" until they press Reset to Default. Each row says who it applies to: Everyone, Editors and admins, or Admins.

Send a notification to someone outside your account

In Account Defaults (admin only), find the row's Slack and Outside Recipients column and type the address, up to 20 per notification. Only some rows allow it: negative reviews, the daily and weekly summary emails, sync failures and the alerts (not Metric Below Target). A row with neither Slack nor outside recipients shows a dash. An outside recipient gets the account default's timing and quiet hours, with no settings of their own.

Choose which alerts Verbstack raises

In Alert Rules (Pro and Max), turn an alert On or Off and set its Priority and Threshold, then save (admin only). Alert Rules decides what Verbstack notices. My Notifications and Account Defaults decide who hears about it. Use Listings Left Out of Alerts for consignment pieces you never want flagged.

See what was sent

History shows when, which notification, which channel and its status: Sent, Waiting, Sending, Failed or Not Sent. An admin can switch between Mine and Everyone's.

A row that wasn't sent gives its reason: held for quiet hours, in the next digest, moved to the digest (many this hour), no browser signed up, channel not set up, couldn't send, destination no longer exists, retrying, turned off before it was sent, or no email address.

When things arrive

  • As It Happens goes out within seconds. A held or scheduled notification goes out within about five minutes of its due time.
  • The daily digest arrives at 08:00 your time. The weekly digest arrives at 08:00 on the first day of your week (Settings → Account → Week Starts On).
  • The Daily summary email arrives between 07:30 and 10:00 account time.
  • The Weekly summary email arrives between 08:00 and 10:00 account time, on the first day of your week.

A digest holds everything queued since the last one in one email. After 12 instant emails in an hour, the rest go to your daily digest.

What the two summary emails hold

Daily summary email (Pro and Max): yesterday's Revenue and profit against the day before, order counts, active alerts, feedback received and the Morning Briefing.

Weekly summary email (every plan): the week in review with top sellers, grades and trends.

Both turn on or off under Summaries, allow outside recipients, and are on for admins by default.

What needs a plan or a role

Every plan gets Mentions, Syncs and Imports Finished, the Weekly summary email and, for admins, Sync failures. Pro and Max add approvals, every alert, the Daily summary email, buyer messages, offers, reviews, feedback, the Morning Briefing and the AI allowance notices.

Everyone changes their own rows, quiet hours, browsers and history. Only admins touch Account Defaults, Slack, the account's quiet hours, outside recipients and Alert Rules.

Three things people get wrong

  • A row can be On with no channel ticked. It then reaches the Inbox only. Tick Email or Push to be told elsewhere.
  • Account Defaults is not your own settings. It is the starting point for people who haven't chosen. Change your own on My Notifications.
  • Quiet hours do not hold everything. Critical notifications go out anyway. Other browser notifications are dropped during quiet hours, not delayed.
