The Scorecard
Overview
The Scorecard compares your shop with the targets you set. Every metric gets a status for the month, quarter or year, so you know where to look first.
Open Scorecard in the sidebar, under Inbox.
Requires Pro or Max
The Scorecard is on Pro and Max. Your 14-day trial includes it. If a trial ends without a plan, your targets are kept.
Read your Scorecard
Four cards sit at the top of the page:
| Card | What it means |
|---|---|
| On Target | The metric meets its target. |
| At Risk | It misses the target, but is not past its alert line. |
| Below Target | It is past its alert line. Only these metrics notify, and only when the target is Set by You. |
| Not Measured | There is no target, or no result yet this period. |
Select a card to show only those metrics. Select it again to show them all.
The table lists each metric with its Result, Target, Status and Change, grouped by category: Revenue & Sales, Profitability, Inventory, Operational, Growth, Fees & Costs, Customers and Custom. Pinned metrics sort first in their group.
Totals in a month that is not over
Revenue and other totals are judged against the target to date. Only days that have ended count. Today's sales reach the Scorecard tomorrow. On day 24 of a 30-day month, 23 days have ended, so a $3,000 monthly target is judged as $2,300. Averages and rates are judged against the full target.
Choose a period and a comparison
- Pick Month, Quarter or Year, then use the arrows to move between periods.
- Use Compare To to change what the Change column measures against: Target, the previous period, or the same period last year.
See one metric in detail
Select a row to open the metric beside the list. It shows the target and alert line, a Last 12 Months chart with the target drawn in, how many of those months were on target, the 12-Month Average, where the target came from, and How It Is Calculated.
Set your targets
- Select Configure.
- For each metric, enter a target. The page previews your changes as you type.
- Optionally set its alert line, show or hide it, or pin it.
- Select Save Changes.
Each metric's target can stay the Same Every Month, or you can set it By Month for seasonal goals. Quarter and year targets add up the months for a total, and use the month's target for an average or a rate. Targets for chooses the year you are editing.
Targets set automatically
When you start, Verbstack sets each target to your own average for the last three months, marked Your Average. A notice on the page says so. Select Keep Targets to keep them all as they are, or Review Targets to check them in Configure. In Configure, select Set Stretch Targets to make them 10% Better, 25% Better or 50% Better. Better raises a target when higher is better and lowers it when lower is better. A target you type is marked Set by You. So is a target you keep with Keep Targets, Keep or Keep All, or set with Use My Average. Alerts come only for Set by You targets.
The alert line
A metric goes Below Target when it misses its target by more than its alert line. The Default Alert Line is 20%, and it applies to every metric whose alert line nobody has typed.
Custom metrics
Select Add Custom Metric in Configure to build your own from orders, listings, reviews, customers, shipments, bumps or expenses. An account can have up to 10.
Who can do what
- Viewers read the Scorecard.
- Editors set targets, choose what shows and build custom metrics.
- Admins also change the Default Alert Line.
Anyone can hide the automatic-targets notice for themselves.
Get told when a metric slips
The Metric Below Target notification tells you when a Scorecard metric goes past its alert line this month. It sends nothing before the 7th of the month. Only a Set by You target sends it. Choose how it reaches you in Settings > Notifications.
