Effective fee rate: Definition, Formula & Why It Matters

Also called: Take rate, Total Reverb fee percentage

Your effective fee rate is the total of all Reverb fees on an order expressed as a percentage of the gross sale. It rolls the selling fee, payment processing, and any Bump into one number so you can compare the true cost of selling across orders and against other marketplaces.

Effective fee rate formula

Effective fee rate = total Reverb fees ÷ gross sale × 100

Example

On a $550 sale with $45.53 in total fees, the effective rate is 8.3%.

Why it matters for Reverb sellers

A single percentage is the fastest way to judge how much Reverb is really costing you. It typically lands around 8-9% on a standard sale, and rises with Bump or international fees, falls on high-value items thanks to the $500 selling-fee cap.
